R 13 16 Uses
R 13 16 is typically used for metal Studs. The metal studs are thinner than wood studs so a wider batt is required. however. R 13 16 is also good for ceilings and floors.
R13 can be used in ceilings for sheds, warehouses and other ceilings that only have a 4inch space. Having the wider material will fit snugly into studs that are 16 inches on center.
In addition R 13 16 is good for floors and subfloors. The wider batt will help stick into a wood bay that is 14.5 inches wide. It will offer great insulating properties and also offer good sound dampening.
R 13 16 will also work in srtandard wood stud bays that are 16 inches on center. some contractors actually prefer 16 inch over the 15 inch insulation to get that extra snug fit. Sometime the 16 inch on center stud configuration is irregular and and having the extra width helps fill some of those gaps caused by studs that might a little more than 16 inches on center.
In summary the uses for a 16 inch batt or wide and can be used in many applications.
